The Orange County Teachers Credit Union
 The Orange County Teachers Federal Credit Union is federally chartered and has its headquarters in Santa Ana California. The credit union services the educational community of Southern California, and was founded in 1934 by a group of school employees. In short form the OCTFCU, was worth about $7 billion in assets by the end of 2006, which made it the 5th largest credit union in the USA based on the size of assets. For 2006, the net income was about $81 million, and the total capital made was $772 million. The total sum of the credit unions’ members is about 355,000 people in the education industry. The OCTFCU serves employees in the following types of educational facilities:
• Public elementary and secondary schools • County superintendents of schools • Authorized education foundations • Community colleges • Authorized colleges and universities • Members of the boards of trustees of eligible schools • Educators who are retired and are receiving a pension from that facility’s retirement program, such as STRS • Immediate family members (ie spouses, mothers, brothers etc) of any existing OCTFCU member.
