HSBC Canada

HSBC Canada is the Canadian arm of the financial giant HSBC, which is a British bank and one of the world's largest banking groups. In Canada, HSBC is the seventh largest bank and has offices in almost every province, with the exception of Prince Edward Island and is the countries largest foreign owned bank. They are headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia. HSBC Canada was created through several mergers and they can trace their roots back to 1981, when the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation incorporated the Hongkong Bank of Canada. The different operations of HSBC are HSBC Investments, HSBC Trust Company, HSBC Securities, HSBC Capital and HSBC Insurance Agency. They are members of the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Canadian Bankers Association, as well as being a member of MasterCard, Interac, Cirrus Network and The Exchange. HSBC Canada sponsors the Calgary Flames, Toronto BLue Jays, Vancouver Canucks and Jetbridges. In Canada, HSBC has over 140 bank branches and 260 offices and their parent company, HSBC Holdings plc, has assets of $2691 billion USD and 7,500 offices in over 80 countries.
