Citizens Bank of Canada is a British Columbia based virtual bank owned by Vancity, or Vancouver City Credit Union. The bank was formed in 1997 and offered personal and business banking services online only - these banking services were offered until 2009. In 2009 Citizens Bank announced that is would focus solely on Visa card services and would completely leave the personal banking market. Citizens Bank of Canada is the first North Americcan based bank to become carbon neutral - this means that the CO2 emissions created by the company are equal to the emissions they have reduced in other areas of business.
